The name Vishnu means 'one who pervades -- one who has entered into everything.'

Lord Vishnu, the central and major deity of the Hindu Triad (Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva) represents the aspect of Supreme Reality that pervades and sustains the created universe.

His consort is Lakshmi, the goddess of beauty and fortune. Lord Krishna is the eighth Avatar (or incarnation) of Vishnu.
